UPDATE 7/23/2012: Congratulations to the three Nom Nom Paleo iPad app winners Natalie, Kate and Heather! All winners have been contacted. Enjoy the app!
Wish you could have Nom Nom Paleo come to your kitchen and walk you through each of her recipes? Well, her app comes surprisingly close to what I imagine that experience would be like. The Nom Nom Paleo iPad app walks you through the process of each and every recipe, with gorgeous pictures to go along with each step. Even if you’ve never stepped into a kitchen before, Nom Nom Paleo makes sure that you’ll be able to pull off each recipe with her excellent instruction.
The starter set ($4.99) comes packed with 53 mouth-watering recipes that are sure to get you inspired. It includes the basics of paleo cooking such as pressure cooker bone broth, ghee, and paleo mayonnaise along with many other beyond-basic recipes including slow cooker thai curry chicken, stir-fried kelp noodles, and chilled avocado soup with dungeness crab. The best part about these recipes are that they are extremely easy – as long as you’ve got a stocked kitchen, you can make most of them in a hurry.
Want more Nom Nom Paleo recipes? There are currently six other 99 cent packs available that each contain 10 recipes: Spice it Up, Sweets and Cheats, Anytime Breakfast, Slow ‘N Low, Party Hearty, and best of all Baconfest. Buying all four add-ons you’ll still spend less than $11 for 113 recipes – a great deal. There may be more add-on packs in the future, so you can also look forward to those!
As of right now, the app is only available for the iPad, but there may be plans to release it on other platforms in the future. The iPad makes a wonderful medium for a cooking app, and Nom Nom Paleo uses it quite well. Never made ghee before? No problem, because the app walks you through the process step by step with amazing pictures and easy to follow directions. Want to make a shopping list for next week’s meals? Just click the box next to the items you need and they’ll show up in a shopping list that can be emailed to you. The shopping list doesn’t combine ingredients from different recipes, though, so you’ll end up with carrots more than once if you have two recipes that contain carrots. It’s still incredibly helpful to be able to easily create a shopping list and email it to yourself. You can also add items that don’t appear in the recipes to your shopping list, so you won’t be making more than one list if you have some other meals planned. Check out the app in action here.
If you’re just starting your Paleo journey, the app also has a Paleo 101 section that explains the basics of Paleo nutrition as well as a “month of meals” to get you through your first 30 days. You’ll also get a “Kitchen Tools” and “Stocking Your Kitchen” guide to make sure your kitchen is ready to make some delicious meals.
The Nom Nom Paleo app is more than just a cookbook – it’s an interactive guide to your kitchen. It is perfect for the beginner and master chef alike and makes a wonderful gift for the food lover.
