UTIs can be caused by poor hygiene, impaired immune function, the overuse of antibiotics, the use of spermicides, and sexual intercourse. The most common cause, accounting for about 90 percent of all cases, is the transfer of Escherichia coli bacteria from the intestinal tract to the urinary tract.
For those of you who have experienced a UTI, there isn’t much you wouldn’t do to avoid another one. While I personally have never had a UTI, my patients have told me how symptoms like pain, burning, nausea, and even bloody urine can be debilitating, and for those who get chronic UTIs, the fear of infection can be enough to prevent engagement in any activities that could trigger one. For people who get them frequently, sometimes a specific cause cannot even be pinpointed. This can be frustrating and scary.
Fortunately, there are a few methods of natural UTI treatment and prevention that have worked extremely well for my patients, to the point where they no longer worry about getting a UTI.
These treatments don’t require a prescription, are inexpensive, and are completely drug-free. While your doctor may not know about them, I hope this article will help you completely avoid UTIs—or at least significantly reduce their frequency and severity. I recommend working with a Functional Medicine practitioner who is focused on treating the root cause of your UTIs.
UTIs can be debilitating, but it is possible to get relief without requiring a prescription. Check out this article for five ways to cure UTIs without antibiotics. #functionalmedicine #wellness #chriskresser
What Is the Standard Treatment for a UTI?
Doctors typically use antibiotics to treat UTIs, and the type and duration depend on your health condition and the type of bacterium found in your urine. (2) Commonly prescribed antibiotics are:
- Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim)
- Amoxicillin
- Ampicillin
- Ciprofloxacin (Cipro)
These antibiotics are often unnecessary and may cause more problems in the future by destroying the beneficial bacteria that prevent pathogenic bacteria from growing. Long-term use of antibiotics can also lead to antibiotic resistance in strains of bacteria like E. coli in the gut, and a UTI caused by these bacteria will be even more challenging to eliminate and can cause more serious issues like a kidney or bladder infection.
Furthermore, antibiotics do very little to prevent the infection from happening in the first place. So, while drugs may be an easy fix for the short term, in the long run, you will continue to be susceptible to UTIs, and these infections may be worse than if you had never taken a course of antibiotics in the first place!

Curing and Preventing UTIs Naturally: D-Mannose
Treating UTIs with D-Mannose
D-mannose is by far the most effective supplement for both treatment and prevention of UTIs. Similar to glucose in structure, D-mannose is a naturally occurring sugar that is found in a number of fruits, including apples, blueberries, and cranberries. (3) This sugar is the reason that cranberry juice has been commonly recommended as a UTI treatment, though it is far easier to get the recommended dosage from a supplement. D-mannose is effective because it attaches to E. coli bacteria, causing them to stick to each other and preventing them from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract. (4) The bacteria can then easily be eliminated from the body during urination.
D-mannose, even in large quantities, does not cause any adverse effects, and cannot be metabolized the way other sugars can, meaning this supplement is safe for people with diabetes and others who are avoiding sugar for any reason. This treatment is also safe for children and the elderly.
Symptom relief can be seen as quickly as the following day, and most symptoms of UTI are generally resolved after 48 hours of treatment. Additionally, taking D-mannose during a time where you feel you are most prone to UTIs, such as before intercourse or during prolonged antibiotic treatment, can help prevent a UTI from ever developing in the first place. This is especially helpful for those who are prone to chronic UTIs and want to be able to engage in normal life activities without fear of infection.
The typical dose of D-mannose for UTI treatment is 500 mg, in capsule or powder form, taken with or in a glass of water or juice every two to three hours for five days. It is a good practice to continue taking the supplement even after symptoms have diminished to ensure complete elimination of the bacteria in the urinary tract. This dose can also be taken as a preventive, or prophylactic, method.
While there has not been any peer-reviewed research to support the effectiveness of D-mannose in treating or preventing UTIs, clinical and anecdotal experience suggests it is highly effective for the majority of infections, both acute and chronic. Some of my patients who have used D-mannose as a UTI treatment method have even described its effects as “miraculous”—so it’s definitely worth a shot!

Four Alternative Treatments for Chronic UTIs
One caveat with D-mannose is that it is only effective with UTIs caused by E. coli infection. While this accounts for about 90 percent of cases, 10 percent will not benefit from this treatment. In this case, supplements that help disrupt biofilms can be useful in treating and preventing UTIs.
Biofilms are an accumulation of microorganisms and their extracellular products forming structured communities attached to a surface such as the lining of the urogenital tract. (5) The development of a biofilm can make infections extremely hard to treat, since they commonly return shortly after treatment is stopped.
The antibacterial resistance of pathogenic biofilms is one of the major reasons why those who get a UTI are highly susceptible to getting more in the future—if the biofilm is not completely eliminated, the infection will eventually return at some point.
1. InterFase Plus and Biofilm Defense
This is why the use of biofilm disruptors can be helpful for preventing the recurrence of chronic UTIs. The biofilm disruptors that I recommend to my patients are InterFase Plus from Klaire Labs or Biofilm Defense from Kirkman. These contain specialized enzymes to disrupt the biofilm matrix embedding potential of pathogens, and dissolve the sugar and fibrin components of most pathogenic biofilms. By destroying the biofilms, the recurrence of UTIs despite proper hygiene can be reduced. (6)
2. Lauricidin
Lauricidin is another supplement that may help in treating UTIs, particularly those that are caused by types of bacteria other than E. coli. Lauricidin (a proprietary form of monolaurin) has antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial activity, and is specific against pathogenic bacteria so it won’t disrupt beneficial bacteria in the gut. It is highly effective at combating gram-positive bacteria in the families of: (7)
- Streptococcus
- Staphylococcus
- Corynebacterium
- Listeria
- Bacillus
- Clostridium
It works by disturbing the integrity of the bacterial cell membrane, blocking replication and making it easier for the immune system to destroy the pathogen. Lauricidin is only helpful, however, for UTIs not caused by E. coli, which is gram-negative and has a different kind of outer cell membrane than gram-positive bacteria.
3. Nattokinase
Nattokinase is another enzyme that has been shown to dissolve biofilms. (8) Produced by the bacteria found in the fermented food natto, this enzyme is proteolytic and can help break down the fibrin proteins that maintain the structure of biofilms.
Because of its fibrin-breaking ability, it’s important that nattokinase supplements are not taken by people with bleeding disorders, or by people who are taking Coumadin (warfarin), aspirin, or any other drug that influences blood clotting, unless supervised by a physician.
4. Apolactoferrin
Apolactoferrin (or lactoferrin) is one more supplement that I recommend to my patients with recurrent UTIs. This multifunctional protein lactoferrin is a component of the immune system with antimicrobial activity, and is part of the innate defense, found mainly in secretions and mucosal surfaces. (9)
Lactoferrin has been shown to block pathogenic biofilm development by binding to iron and causing the bacteria to “wander” across surfaces instead of forming cell clusters and biofilms. (10, 11) One study found that the amount of E. coli bacteria in the kidneys and bladder of mice was significantly reduced 24 hours after oral lactoferrin treatment, compared to a control group. (12) More research is necessary to demonstrate the effectiveness of lactoferrin in treating UTIs, but I believe it is worth trying, especially if dealing with chronic UTIs.

Can you use Amazon.com to buy these supplements ?
Do I not ever use Cipro for a uti. That is an antibiotic meant only for life or death situations. It is meant as part of chemotherapy treatment, not routine infections. Your doctor is a fool.
What?? Where in the world did you get that information? You are so way off base. Cipro is used for alot of different infections. Curious to know where you learned your information for cipro meant to be used with chemo?
True I work in a pharmacy and cipro is a very commonly used antibiotic.
Has there been any research done on injecting biofilm disruptors directly into the bladder through a catheter?
Has anyone investigated injecting biofilm disrupting enzymes into the bladder through a catheter? It seems like that would deliver the biofilm disruptors right to the appropriate spot.
I have a 21-year-old daughter who due to a disability has to self-catheterize herself. UTI’s have been a constant problem since she was a young child. I’d like to say that we have found the perfect answer but unfortunately, we are still searching. Her UTIs are almost all E. Coli bacteria, as are most women’s who are getting infections from becoming sexual. I encourage all women to work on the strategies to avoid infections in the first place, from cleaning and preparing for sex to peeing immediately afterwards to eliminate bacteria. Not getting an infection is definitely the best defense. Kira went on D-Mannose daily some years ago and it was a miracle for her. We have recommended it to other young women and it works beautifully for some but not everyone. It is actually a sugar so very safe for adults and children. We also increase the dose when we feel an infection coming on but that seems to loosen her stools so watch for that. Recently, she is in a depression and probably has a suppressed immune system and nothing is working right now. We are doing warm lemon water with 1000 mg. Vitamin C powder in the AM & PM. Do not continue that during an infection as it irritates the already suffering bladder lining. I had huge UTI issues as a young, sexual woman. A German urologist pointed out that they occur more frequently as our hormones shift prior to menstruation. I have not found an American doctor that agrees with that but Kira definitely notices it. Just in case, be extra careful about a week prior to your period- drink lots of water, take more Vitamin C or D-Mannose, be more careful before and after sex and see if you notice.
Everyone comments that D mannose works like a charm but it didn’t do much for me even though my urine culture test consistently shows E. coli.
The bacteria is so persistent that it comes back in 3 days after antibiotics. I had 3 courses of antibiotics since January this yr and tried lots of alternative medicine such as d mannose (6- 8g a day for 2 wks), citravescent, barley, juniper extract and chinese medicine. But all can’t get rid of the bacteria. Now my urologist is giving me Vesicare to curb the urge and asking me to drink citravescent for a month. Not sure if it will work.
I noticed a major difference when I changed my diet up a bit. I stayed away from acidic foods and foods with artificial sweeteners! These types of food can prolong recovery because they can cause even more irritation. Continue on D-mannose and lower the intake of these foods.
For the past 5 years I had on and off UTI’s. I took a lot of meds for antibacterial and stuff which was prescribed by my doctor. The dosage was getting higher and higher everytime my UTI comes back. Having this kind of illness is a very unpleasant feeling especially if it is chronic. (Mine is chronic) What helped me a lot was.. I just stop taking medicines if I have UTI. I just drink plenty of water and drink baking soda mixed with an apple cider vinegar in a glass of water to ease the pain. I also tried taking herbal meds. Boiling oregano leaves in the water and drink it. I also stop taking irritants like caffeine, nicotine and carbonated drinks. I also recommend turmeric for inflamation. So, whenever I’d have UTI it only stays for like 3-5 hours in my system. Drinking probiotics help a lot. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria too.
I have suffered from chronic uti’s for the last 3 years, and have taken antibiotics for all that time, all different types. I got to the point i had the urologist tell me he didn’t know what to do for me anymore. This was a NYC famous urologist. What i found when seeing all these dr’s was, everyone was only willing to try to proscribe me different antibiotics rather than try to figure out why and how i could cure this naturally.
This is what i figured out for myself and has worked for the last year. I wear a panty liner everyday and change regularly, this helps with the bacteria. If i feel like i’m getting a infection i take 5000 mg of vitamin C, and keep taking the same amount during the day. If i do get an infection i drink one bottle of sugar free cranberry mixed with water throughout the day. Along with this i take magnesium and a probiotic, if you do this everyday until its gone, this far outweighs the antibiotics and is so much healthier. Natural is the way to go!
Hi! been suffering from it too. My case is a lil bit different since a stop taking meds. There was this one time that I had UTI way back at 2013 and I never take any meds even it was prescribed by my doctor. I just drink and drink plenty of water time after time. It causes tons of trips to the bathroom of course but it helps me a lot. I also drink probiotics and boiled oregano leaves and drink it too. Studies show that oregano oil treats chronic infections to the body, I made my own research about it and proved it myself when I tried it. My UTI still comes back but not as frequent for the first 2 years when I started having it. I’m free from it for like 6 or 9 months before I’d have symptoms again. Let’s say I have it now and if I’m gonna do my routine of treating it I only have it for like 3-5 hours in my system. Now, I only experience havig UTI once a year.
that sounds great!
How many days you trust yourself doing this without going to a doctor?
Looking for advise. I have been suffering from UTI’s for the past 3 years (one or two during my childhood and youth, but more consistently as an adult). For me the trigger is sex and I always assumed that E. Coli is the cause, however I have been taking D Mannose regularly (1000 mg a day) as a prevention and I still get UTI’s. From this article, it would suggest that the D Mannose is the best prevention/treatment for this type of UTI. The only thing that has been successful in prevention is if I take a low dose antibiotic immediately following intercourse. I want to get off the antibiotic after intercourse and want to cure a current UTI that my doctor has prescribed Cipro for.
Would it be useful to start a regimen of Biofilm defense, Lauricidin and the other supplements recommended in the article? Or is that only helpful if the UTI is not caused by E. Coli? Are these supplements helpful regardless of the cause for better overall health? They are expensive and I am already spending a lot on natural health care. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
I wish I had some answers for you. I am a 68 year old Male who has been fighting with a Bladder Infection for over 3 months. I have tried Cipro for 10 days. I have tried D-Mannose for a Long Time. Cranberries don’t work. Buchu is suppose to work, but it doesn’t. I have tried a lot of things until I have run out of money. My next attempt is going to simply eat some Yogurt for 3 days and see if it helps. I would eat it for more than 3 days, but again, out of money. And, yes, things like Biofilm Defense can be costly. Have you tried taking Goldenseal Root?. Some people say that it helps a little. Wish I could give some answers. Good Luck.
Hey there Dale and friends,
Sorry to hear of your plight. I too have had bladder infection difficulties to the point of more than one hospitilisaion. I wanted to say that immune boosting is really important too. I’ve taken so many antibiotics that mine is not functioning well. I take a super mushroom complex my Metagenics and their Zinc. I take lypospheric vitamin C by Seeking health, and their Circumin (tumeric) to help with general inflammation. If your bowel is inflammed as well or you have leaky gut this will not be helping the situation and I have been taking l-glutamine I think it’s called to heal the lining. Magnesium might be helpful, a powdered form to keep the gut moving and rest your adrenals/body from having to fight such infections chronically. To try and find a holistic/integrative practitioner might really be helpful and give you the support you need. It’s not a great place to be, and it’s nice to feel someone is keeping an eye on you and assisting you.
Anyway I just wanted to say, doing this and making sure I’m not killing of any more of my immune system has helped a lot. I also take Kyodophilus 9 probiotics.
All the best to you,
Kate.
Thank you for your input. A lot of people say to take a lot of vitamin C, but it makes my condition worse. It makes me Bleed. So, I won’t try that again. The other supplements you mentioned I will keep in mind. Money is a major issue for me. I’m living on Social Security and the COLA that we get is far below the actual cost of living. Everything keeps going up in price, but the Social Security stays about the same. Thanks again, Dale
Hey there, I replied to Dale’s comment. Just regarding immune boosting if that could help too.
Try using staphysagria 200c for honeymoon cystitis or uti causing from sexual activity. It’s a Homeopathy medicine. Also try to drink green tea it contains a lot of antioxidants which will control uti..herbs like uva ursi was also useful to me..it is easily available in amazon.com
LADIES LISTEN.
Stop the antibiotics and try to alleviate and kill the bacteria using Oregano Oil, Golden Seal and Propolis. (Oreganol is a good brand for Oregano Oil)
This will take longer but the ultimate solution is: PHAGE THERAPY
I have been suffering from chronic UTIs and doctors kept sending me for different lab tests and kept bombarding me with antibiotics. 7 rounds of 7 differents ones and it all did not work. Still felt the urethral pain and the heavy peeing. 3 months of agony and depression and I finally found Phage Therapy. It’s what is used in Poland, Russia and Republic of Georgia instead of antibiotics. They make a specific medicine for you using bacteriophages which attack ONLY THE BACTERIA THATS CAUSING YOUR INFECTION. Without killing the good bacteria. This has been proven to treat serious infections such as staph and MRSA. I am now in the process of sending my urine sample for a specialized phage treatment. Search for Phage Therapy Center and also for phage success stories.
The bacteria that caused the chronic and recurrent UTI is still the same one that NEVER went away. Antibiotics only kills off the good bacteria and made the UTI bacteria stronger and more freely to multiply due to the lack of good bacteria. It will also appear as if it came back but in fact, it is the same one and went dormant to protect itself from the antibiotic.
Pharmaceuticals have been dumping us with antibiotic as this is profitable. There are WAAAAY BETTER SOLUTIONS OUT THERE.
Would you please send me the name adrress and phone number , email ect. where you are sending your urine sample to for phage therapy. I need help I am 60 year old male and have had 10 UTIs in the last 4 years

Please leave your email so I can contact you as well! We’re all in this together!
Ava, pls update us if phage therapy works for you. Thanks.
Can you give me your email?
i would also like to know where to send urine samples that can be treated for specific bacteria. Please let me know where and info. I have sought many urologists. It seems they try at first, but once they can’t figure out why they just throw up their hands and give up. Isn’t there anyone who can help??? I’ve had over 53 uric acid stones in last 3 years. Changed diet and doing my part. But with every stones come another uti. I can’t live on antibiotics forever. Please help a weary person. Thxs.
http://www.phagetherapycenter.com/pii/PatientServlet?command=static_home
Please leave your email so I can contact you as well! We’re all in this together! I’m talking to other patients as well. This give me hope
Is Pahse Therapy safe for elderly patients? My mom suffers from frequent UTI’s and now she is 80 and it affects her differently. She not longer has the burning or pain, in elderly patients UTI’s can mimic signs of stroke or dementia (which she tested negative for both) ie, confusion, behaviorial changes, forgetfulness etc. She can’t continue to go on antibiotics.
Why will Stones caused UTI? After you remove them, did the bacteria stop growing?
Would you please send me information on where to send sample for PHAGE THERPY
http://www.phagetherapycenter.com/pii/PatientServlet?command=static_home
Can you give me your email?
hey how do u get the medicine that help cleared your uti I been suffering from this for almost a year now n I am now 12 weeks pregnant
Hi!
I’ve tried everything. Lactoferrin, Biofilm Disruptors, Curcumine, Olive Leaf, Marshmallow, Buchu, Cranberry, Uva Ursi, DMannose and everything else – even acupunture and a lot of antibiotics. What really worked for me was Golden Seal and Oregano Oil. I bought the brand Oreganol and put 8 drops in an empty capsule and took 4-8 capsules per day but made sure to take a lot of probiotics. I figured, if doctors want me to overdose on antibiotics, I’d rather take a lot of Oregano Oil instead. This was the only thing that alleviated the symptoms and started making me feel better. I also took 2 goldenseal root capsules daily. And DMannose in the morning and night with fresh, blended aloe vera.
I bought all of these from iherb.com
Right now I’m still in contact with the Phage Therapy in Georgia.
Can you tell us about your contact with the Phage Therapy center in Georgia? Logistics, how you communicate with them, etc?
You can easily go to their website and I’ve been talking to the most awesome person ever, Doctor Zemphira. She’s well-known for phage and I tell you, their staff is so kind! I talk to Zemphira directly unlike some doctors who wouldnt talk to you without you having to pay or going through an assistant. She is one of the veterans when it comes to phage therapy and has cured A LOT of patients all over ther world with phage therapy. I have my sample sent and now theyre looking for the correct phages for my bacterias. They are the best at this. For now I am taking care of my immune system. Will definitely post an update on this.
Arva,
Did you get your urine tested for a specific strain of bacteria? I can’t find anywhere that will test to see what strain of e.Coli my partner has. Did you email the Phage Therapy people or call them?
Thanks,
Dan
Very interesting as I have suffered from recurrent uti for ten years now.
Hi
I am 24 (female) and I am from Bangladesh. I am having chronic UTIs since last year, after engaging in sexual activity with a new boyfriend almost after one year I had sex with a previous one. We often had intercourse and after 24 hours of intercourse I suffered from UTI. 11 UTIs within 1.5 years is definitely a thing to panic. Most of them were caused by E.coli and two of the infections were due to enterobacter.
I took Ciprofloxacin at first but gradually got resistant to it. I was already resistant to Azithromycin. Then I took nitrofurantoin and got resistant to it too. Last time I had cotrimoxazole for 2 months. Now after having too much antibiotics recommended by GPs here, I am sick and slightest stress or sleeplessness triggers UTI again. I am always having loose bowel (diarrhoea) everyday.
100% cranberry juice is not available in my country. After searching internet I found about D-Mannose powder which is not available in our country. I ordered it from UK and had it I felt slight better but I think I have not got cured fully. I am having probiotics orally and BM has improved after that. Biofilm disruptors are also not available here. If I need to take biofilm disruptors for UTIs then what will be good for me and please suggest me the dosage and how long will I need to have it. Amazon is not available in my country so I order from store, I can only get Kirkman Biofilm defense. Please reply me about the dosage. I really need your help.
I didn’t see anyone mentioning colloidal silver here. I actually don’t use colloidal, but ionic silver called Argentyn 23. Silver has been used for centuries for infections and works very well because it somehow suffocates the bacteria. Therefore, the bacteria can’t become immune to it. I just had a UTI for which they subscribed Bactrim for 7 days. I took it but still had symptoms. So now I am back to some Argentyn 23. I get it from Amazon in a big bottle to have on hand. I have chronic Lyme Disease and find it really helps. I am on a natural herbal Lyme protocol because I was on antibiotics for over 3 years to keep Lyme under control. I feel now as good as I did on antibiotics so I do not want to use pharmaceuticals if I don’t have to.
Since fighting with a Bladder Infection for 3 months now, I have done a lot of research on the Internet seeking solutions. I have taken antibiotics with no success. I have taken D-Mannose with No Success, and I have taken a lot of other supplements with No Success. I did learn something this week though with my research. Vitamin C is definitely NOT Good for the infection. It actually makes the Infection much worse. A website I found told of this, and I personally found it true by increasing my Vitamin C from 1000 mg a day to 3000 mg a day. The following day after taking this Vitamin, I had the worse day ever with the infection. Also, Vitamin C makes the infection last longer. Also, an Expert on Cranberries states that cranberries with make the infection last longer.
Plus, regarding my recent posting about “Chandraprabha Vati”, with comes from India, it seems to be helpful in one way so far. While fighting with the Bladder Infection, I found myself heading for the bathroom 4 times a night to urinate. After a week of taking Chandra, I only have to head for the bathroom Twice a night. Not sure if it because of the Chandra, but it sure seems like it.
Just FYI
Hi – I just want to thank you all for your help. I had a UTI earlier this year which took 2 rounds of antibiotics to kick. I was hit with another on Saturday night, and know I don’t want to keep taking antibiotics, since those come with their own issues. Bought some D-Mannose last night, and am feeling this morning like I’m definitely heading in the right direction. However, I’ve made note of all the other possibilities mentioned just in case!! Thanks everyone!
I mentioned before in another comment about “Chandraprabha Vati” which is a mixture of about 23 herbs and comes from India. I purchased one bottle through Amazon.com. This bottle is from a company called “India Abundance”. One bottle cost me Only $6.00 with Free Shipping from India. It took only 2 weeks to receive it. I am going to try it out by only taking one pill at first to make sure it doesn’t cause any problems. These pills are suppose to be good for UTI’s and Many other ailments. One man said who took them for a month and it solved his UTI problem, and another man said it’s great for UTI’s. For only $6.00, it’s worth a try. Just FYI
Note: regarding my info above, this product Not Good for Pregnant Women.
Dale,
sounds like an advertisement.
Any reservations about using these remedies for UTIs while pregnant?
I am a Microbiologist who has worked for blue chip Pharmaceutical Companies and studied antibiotics for more than 15 years. I am also a UTI sufferer since the age of 6.
I recently had a UTI that I treated with 4 different antibiotics with zero effect. I did not want to take more antibiotics so started to serve the net to find alternative cures.
Your site is excellent and I have tried many of the remedies listed. I also searched for the clinical data to find the evidence base.
I tried d mannose
grapefruit seed extract
apple cider vinegar
Turmeric
olive leaf extract.
All worked for three days then the infection came back.
I have therefore concluded that they are probably all bacteriostatic i.e stop numbers of bacteria increasing but do not resolve the infection.
Antibiotics are either bacteristatic or bacteriocidal i.e kill the bacteria. What we want is bactericidal or to change the flora so good bacteria can outnumber the bad.
The next part was looking at acidophilus. There is no evidence to support that acidophilus has any effect. Lactobacillus acidophilus species in the gut makes no difference to UTI in the bladder. We need ecoli for digestion so upping lactobacillus will not change this.
However Lactobacillus species in the vagina make a massive difference to UTI. The bacterial flora of the vagina can change the bacterial flora of the bladder. There are 27 clinical trials to support this the species they found helped was lactobacillus rhamnous and lactobacillus reuteri.
After 5 weeks of battling the UTI I added in a probiotic containing these two species to apple cider vinegar and finally I have resolved this. I took 2/day for 3 days. I took femdophilus but there are other brands.
I think that you need to update the site.
Hi Gracie! I’ve been doing the same thing and I still have the infection. Could you be able to give me you email so I can find out more about the steps youve taken? It would really help A LOT!
I mean GABRIELLE
Gabrielle,
I agree with Gracie, is there a way we can contact you so we can know more about the remedy you did?
Thanks for the great information on probiotics for the bladder.
can anyone tell me their experience with Kirkland Biofilm Defense? Does it cause severe UTI symptoms when purging out the bacteria?
It didnt cause me any symptoms. i also tried NAC and I think I got a detox reaction from it, runny nose, cought, sneeze … Came out of nowhere while taking NAC.
And thank you for this post Chris, you are a blessing. D mannose has kept my infections at bay to a point when I have known no other way.
I was on multiple antibiotic treatments for bacterial infections for over 8 months which ended nearly a year ago. Since then I have tended to get UTIs every one month or so. I have taken antibiotics for a few UTIs during that time but that doesn’t help it to completely disappear, and even on D mannose my immune system seems to be so poor the infections are just waiting to reappear. I recently had my appendix out, another showing of lower abdomen inflammation and my mentral cycle is pretty horrific so I know that whole region is not good.
I feel like I do not know how to get a handle on all of this.
I am currently trying mushrooms to boost my immunity, lots of lipospheric vitamin c, circumin, probiotics, magnesium… too much to list. Products to try and moderate candida too.
Anyway, I guess I’m just sharing for some release and for others who are similar! UTIs are much more debilitating than I could have once imagned. I’ll be so fluey, my whole lower bowel so inflammed and painful that I cannot role to the side, having hot flushes, short of breath with a tight chest, nauseated, vommiting, unable to eat, and so exhausted and sleepy that I can hardly leave my bed when I have one. I have a couple of times I’ve had such bad lower bowel pain, nausea and vomiting that I’ve needed to go to hospital.
Wishing luck to all who have experienced or are experiencing such a terrible thing!
Hi Kate! I have similar experiences. Can you give me your email?
Ladies, practice proper hygiene, & you won’t have to worry about ‘remedies’. Alcohol your rectum & your buttocks, after each BM, & before sex – thoroughly.
It’s E. coli, left on the rectums & buttocks of women, not their male partners penis’s, that causes nearly all of sexually related UTI’s.
If a woman uses just toilet paper, or just water, or even soap & water to wash her rectum & buttocks after a BM, & before sex, she is not killing E. coli. E. coli can only be killed using a germicide &/or bactericide.
The woman has E. coli on her rectum & buttocks after a BM, the penis then touches these areas during sex (though this is not necessary, E. coli has ‘legs’ & the friction & lubrication involved in sexual intercourse is enough to make the E. coli travel from the skin to the urethra).
Every woman should be using alcohol on her rectum, buttocks & under arms anyway, to smell good, & a low dose alcohol tonic like witch hazel, to kill germs on the skin. Women that use soap & water to clean themselves, are not as clean as women who use alcohol on parts of the body.
I would suggest adding the contents of a capsule of probiotics on the skin after using witch hazel, then only using w.h. after a contaminating incident. The good bacteria work on the skin as well as in your body, so unless you’ve made a mess you should be good.
What can you do naturally to cure strep b in urine during pregnancy?
I got rid of strep b (after I tested positive for it) in my second pregnancy. I threaded a garlic clove and inserted it like a tampon over night, every other night, for several weeks. I also took 1 T of Apple cider vinegar (they have some that don’t taste as horrible at whole foods) every night for those weeks. At the end I tested negative and was able to have my baby without taking antibiotics.
Hi, you put a whole clove up your vagina? Just trying to understand.
Dear God don’t do that. That tissue is so tender. I tried doing that with several different essential oils diluted down with a carrier oil (coconut) and it burned. Think! Peeing with burned vaginal tissue. It was NOT fun!
