Homemade mustard is easy to make.

You can either make simple mustard from mustard powder with a mixing bowl, mustard seeds with a grinder, or a combination of the two.

Equipment: Mixing Bowl
Servings: 1

Ingredients:

  • 2 TB dry mustard powder
  • 1 TB water
  • apple cider vinegar to taste

Directions:

  1. To make the simplest homemade mustard, mix equal parts mustard powder and water.  Use a nonreactive mixing bowl. Stir well.
  2. Stir in a small splash of vinegar.
  3. Place into a glass storage container and refrigerate.

  1. Question – This says mix equal parts mustard and water but gives a different ratio within the ingredient list. Can you help on which it is.

    Love how simple it is.

    • may be the powder has a lower density, so that the total weight of water and mustard powder is about the same?

    • It’s by weight. A Tbsp. of water is about .5 oz. Two Tbsp. of ground mustard seed is also .5 oz.
